The Department of Crop Protection is probably the largest department in the Faculty of Agriculture. Its main tasks are teaching and research in the areas of

agricultural entomology, plant pathology, agricultural zoology, apiculture, nematology, pesticides and environmental toxicology and pest management.

The Department of Agricultural Engineering is one of the departments of the Faculty of Agriculture. Undergraduate students who enroll in the Department are offered B.Sc. (Agric.) Agricultural Engineering. The Department offers post-graduate studies at both Master and Ph.D. levels.

The Department of Horticulture is one of several Departments that comprise the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Khartoum.

 The Department of Horticulture was established in 1960.

1938  The High School of Agriculture was established under the umbrella of the Department of  Agriculture.

1946  The High School of Agriculture was affiliated together with other high schools to Gordon Memorial College.

1938  The High School of Agriculture was founded. Since its establishment till 1946 it was under the umbrella of Department of Agriculture.

1946  It is affiliated together with other high schools to Gordon Memorial College.

1951  Gordon Memorial College was renamed University College of Khartoum.

The Department of Rural Economy (now Agricultural Economics) has been one of the three departments that constituted the School of Agriculture in 1938. The Department started to offer agricultural economics specialization for under graduate students at the Faculty in 1956/96 academic year. Also the Department is one of the earliest departments that started and conducted post-graduate studies at both master and Ph.D. levels.
