ATEU was established in Faculty of Agricuture,University of Khartoum since 1994 with the aim of transfering the knowledge of agricultural research results to communities in production areas. In this proccess, facilities of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Khartoum are utilized for capacity biulding of
different professional stakeholders involved in Sudan’s agricultural sector. Training actvities in UTAE started with administrating of computer sessions for academic and administrative staff working in the faculty. Simultaneously ,the unit was used to prepare and design academic lectures of different disciplines in Faculty of Agriculture until 2010. Regular official training in UTAE had properly started between 2016 and end of 2018 where 11 training workshops were conducted in the fields of Soil and Environment, Field Crops Production, Biotechnology, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Economics and Rural Development for more than 200 trainees from different higher education institutions in the Sudan. To widen the scope of activities played by UTAE in achieving the development of human capital within Agricultural sector in the Sudan, enlargment of sectors aimed by the training is proposed to include staff of private agricultural companies, public agricultural schemes, agricultural financial instiutions, governmental and nongovernmental develomental organizations .
Vision of ATEU
UTAE acts to enhance capcities of agricultural cadre in higher education institutions, governmental and non govermnetal sectors to upgrade the technical assistance in the agricultural and developmental process through capacity biulding activities utilizing the huge scientific experience and technical facilities in Faculty of Agriculture.
Mission of UTAE
Capacity biulding of stakeholders involved in agricultural sector through training is the basic mean to develop rural societies and enhance agricultural production in the Sudan
Objectives of UTAE
- Enhance the efficiency of academic cadre in higher education institutes by training on the modern technologies and concepts of agricultural sciences to improve the standard of academic and scientific research outcomes.
-Enhance the efficiency of technical cadre in governmental agric- institutions, financial agric- insitutions and private agricultrual companies by training on the modern applied technologies in agricultural sciences to maximize agricultural production in both private and governmental agricultural schemes.
- Develop the communicational skills and knowledge of the staff working in governmental and non governmental developmental ogranizations to enhance economical and social empowerment of rural dewellers in the Sudan
